Wow, I am really surprised that it is so silent here. I never expected much for my program, it is for Linux and therefore has only a small possible user base. But why is ComicRack drawing only that little attention? Is CDisplay that prefect that noone even tries an alternative? :(
cyolito- 06-16-2006
hehe, yeah
i should do something to get attention for this program.
but as this is just for fun, i don't get a penny for it and i have other things to do in life, let's again welcome the three happy users :)
And I'm coming back to you about the xml, just have to finish up other things first :)

Take your time. I am currently working on scanner support for my program. Now that there is competition I have to get some unique selling points.

You ever actually tried it? Wine? :)
I've to install comicmaster if i come around.
You know, when it comes to linux i'm actually a gentoo guy and my linux tablet just made it through the 4 days recompile from gcc 3.3 to 3.4 :)
Also with a little more time, i even may to try mono :)
A and of course i can tell you why everybody is using CDisplay...

Does it run under Wine? Then I actually might try it.

Me too. Gentoo currently is my one and only os. What tablet do you use? ComicMaster can rotate images permanently. Was a feature request of a guy who wanted to read comics on a tablet pc. :-)

I am a 100% Qt guy. 50% of the reason the ComicMaster project was started was to learn about the (at that time) new Qt 4.0 lib.

Of course, but you announced your program on zcult. This surely is a very important and large part of the digital comic community. And even there you hardly had any feedback. Maybe you can announce it here, too:

KYUSS- 06-20-2006
yes i agree that seems to be a good place to announce your reader.
another thing you could do is make a nice looking sig image that u could add to your posts everywhere.

I want, as I said somewhere else, to make a truly huge release of something interesting, including xml data for the comics and comicrack to promote it (I think that is the best way to do it), but I am really busy at work, and will not be able to go for it in one or two weeks!

Take your time. I started with cyolito a little discussion about the XML schema. When we add comic information via XML to an archive, we should do it correctly. A flaw in ones program is easily fixed with a patch or an update, but a flaw in an XML schema, which is distributed in hundreds of archives and possibly adopted in some other comic readers, is hardly repairable.
Below an early proposal. You see, it is a little more complicated than cyolito's first proposal. But to be really useful, it should have a schema similar to the example below. And don't worry, you are not supposed to write such an XML file by hand. Time to give our comic suppliers some good tools to create their releases. :-)

Sorry that i still did not come back to you about the schema.
this one looks nice (got rid of the role stuff :))
i'll check you back in a few days (i know ... :))

Yeah, role is not necessary. It was a relict from this form:

I am also shocked about how quiet this forum is. Comic Rack is a great bit of software. I LOVE being able to keep track of all my e-comics. Thank you so much for developing it. I'm sure that it will eventually be the successor to CDisplay for Windows users.
KYUSS- 08-13-2006
it is a great program......but one of my gripes with it is the scrolling is a bit ermmm chunky......could there be an option to have smooth scrolling rather than what seems to be panel by panel scrolling.

Thanks for the praise :)
See yourself as a member of a very secret and very small group of people who've seen the light :P

hehe, thats the funny thing about software development. this scrolling factor is just one number in the program with such big influence on usability.
It seems i'm more of a fast scroller :)
Your idea is noted. I'll put something into the next releae. (Due out on tuesday i think)

thanks!
now thats feedback!!!

I shall try and spread the word as you requested on the homepage!
I was thinking about other features you might like to add and wondered about maybe including support for E-Books as well. I imagine its quite a big task but I'm sure a lot of people would find it useful.
I have thousands of E-Books in many file formats (DOC, HTM, LIT, PDB, PDF, RTF & TXT) and it is impossible to keep track of them.
